WHERE STEVE JOBS IS WRONG ABOUT DEATH

“…death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It’s life’s change agent; it clears out the old to make way for the new … Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”

                                    — Steve Jobs

Sobering thoughts.

Mr. Jobs is correct.

About death's inescapable certainty.

About how thinking about death's inevitability can hone our focus on being sure we do the important things.

About how we should live our own lives, not someone else's idea of how we should live.

But this quote seems to miss something. His words almost seem careless about the value of a human soul - especially as it goes out into eternity.

Are we really just so much useless garbage that once we die the earth is glad to be rid of us -  so the next generation can come occupy that space? Were we truly in the way? Such empty thinking!

I just wanna interject here that YOU matter, YOUR life matters. YOU are important in God's grand scheme of things.

Two responses from me to the above quote:

1. Death is not final. There is something that comes after our physical death - eternal life, either with our matchless Creator, or apart from Him. Endlessly. And it's my choice, your choice, where we spend it.

Our daily responsibilities, life goals, long term projects, and so forth, consume our thoughts, and we tend to give very little thought to what comes "after."

But we should, because, well....eternity is a long time.

Have you made your choice? I'd love to chat with you about that. PM me if you want a private conversation.

2. Mr. Jobs' last sentence encourages us to live OUR lives.

None of us are here accidentally. Our loving heavenly Father birthed each of us onto this earth for a purpose.

             a) I submit that they are not OUR lives to live. Since our Creator made us, that means our lives belong to Him. We don't have to agree; it's a fact that can't be changed just because we want to live without caring what He thinks.

             b) I do agree with Mr. Jobs' assertion that we are here for a purpose. Only I, Julia Kautt can do what the Lord put me here to do.

Only you, dear reader, can accomplish the purpose for which your Maker made you.

Do you know what it is? If not, are you trying to find it? If you do know, are you doing it? What kind of progress are you making?

Kudos to you who are rocking your purpose!

I'd love to hear from you what you think your unique mission is here on Planet Earth!

And if you think your life does not matter, then watch "The Butterfly Affect".
