OBEY, THEN UNDERSTAND

As you read God's word or listen to a sermon, have you ever been puzzled by something the Lord tells us to do or not do?

There are commands the Lord gives that make a lot of sense right off the bat. And there are some commands we won't understand until we can ask the Lord in eternity.

And then there are those other commands. The ones that simply don't make sense when we first encounter them.

Because we love this gracious Person who has swapped out Jesus' death for ours, and because we want to please our Papa, we go ahead and obey. But we still don't understand beforehand.

And then,

we get on the other side of obedience.

And then,

suddenly we have that aha! moment - "So, thaaat's why He wants me to do that!"

Suddenly, we can "hear" the Word of God so much more clearly. And it builds our faith.

This happened to me as I was learning about being a mom, both from a positive and negative perspective.

So, let's don't get discouraged about our Father's commands when we don't understand. Let's DO them, anticipating that He will make it all clear in time.

P.S.  The image-quote also reminds me of Hebrews 5:14:

"Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong."

P.P.S. Have you ever had that aha! moment of sudden understanding? I'd love to hear about it in the comments below.
