UNMOORED

I penned this during a very difficult time in the life of our family.

UNMOORED

for David

Cut away, isolated, wandering
Dismissed, yet gladly abandoning
Loosened from bonds that tied
What appears to threaten
Viewed from one side
Actually assists once on the other

Freedman, my Sojourner

Caterpillar, crawls into a womb
Emerges fresh from its cocoon
Moistened wings, now gossamer
Glistening hues call for a new name
Tested on Spirit-zephyrs
Once earthbound, now released to soar

Admiral, my Butterfly

Ship, at dock, lashed secure
Once anchored at safe harbor
Now unmoored, no longer becalmed
Unalarmed, set adrift by a fresh breeze
Liberated to pioneer uncharted seas
Guided by a new Captain

Captain, my Brave Heart

Walls of protection knocked down
Eyes of wonder gaze ‘round
Seeing as if for the first time
Beginning to comprehend
The love of the Great Amen
Thus freed to love others

Beloved, my Apostle
