OUR CHILDREN'S PAIN

As parents, we instinctively want to protect our children from pain and frustration, even our grown children.

And sometimes we should do just that.

However, there are times when doing that cripples the child.

We need to pray for discernment and wisdom for the times when we should allow them to be in painful circumstances...

...because sometimes it takes their being in pain to awaken them:

                 - to their need for a close relationship with the Lord, or to mend that relationship,

                 - for the need to confront sin in their lives,

                 - for the need to run to Abba for comfort rather than self-soothing by sinful means.

Sometimes the wisest thing we can do when our children face pain and frustration is to step away and let them deal with it on their own.
