HE CALLS ME UP INTO THE HEAVENLIES

For much of my life, I looked at God as the big ogre in the sky, ready to smack me down when I messed up. The last several months, I've been learning about His tender compassion and abundant provision for His children.
I have a verse posted in my bathroom: Isaiah 57:15 "For
thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity whose name is Holy: 'I
dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble
spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the
contrite ones.'" Formerly, when I read that, what jumped out at me was the
description of God's character, and where He dwells. And He seemed
unapproachable. But then I read the rest of the verse and realized that, as I
humble myself, He calls me up to inhabit eternity with Him.
Me. Little, insignificant me. I can't find words to describe
the joy that comes from knowing that He wants that kind of intimate fellowship
with _me_. And that it takes place in eternity, that domain I thought was
formerly reserved only for Lord God Almighty. He has been showing me that He is
a tender Father who delights in giving good gifts to His sons and daughters,
who wants to commune with me. I can have that fellowship by maintaining a
humble and contrite heart. Wow! What an awesome God we serve!
Thank you, Jesus - my Savior, Brother, Shepherd, Friend, for
reconciling me to Your Father! Praise your matchless Name forever and ever!!
