WHO AM I, THAT GOD CARES?

When I looked out the window at 5:45 AM this morning, the luminous moon beckoned. So I went, water mug and Bible in hand, and sat on the patio.

That great silver disc cast strong shadows, even then. Upon the clear velvet sky rested a few sparkling gems.

Our kids have a tradition of watching the Perseides meteor shower each August. I chose not to join them earlier this morning, but still got to see one shooting star at 6 AM!

One could have driven with no headlights, yet I could not see to read book-print. So I simply sat, rubbing the cat's back, swiveling my neck to take in all the loveliness of cartoonish colors and sharp shadows, black western sky with the few visible sparkling stars, and the slightest hint of sunrise on the eastern horizon.

I'm still amazed that the moon would be so bright, that I could still see my dusky self on the ground at the crack of dawn.

The moon is my favorite inanimate object of all JEHOVAH God's creation (followed closely by almost any kind of flower).

Thank you, Lord, for the stunning glories of Your handiwork! And that's the -fallen- world! What will the renewed universe look like?!

I'm pretty sure one reason we will get new bodies is because we'll need different eyes that can handle the bedazzling splendors of the new heavens and the new earth.

Once again, I feel so small. I sing along with King David, Keith Green and Casting Crowns, "Who am I...?" "When I consider the heavens, the works of your fingers, ... What is man that you should take thought of him?!" Yet You did, and You do. I stand in awe of Your works and Your amazing love for us.

'Thank you' seems pitifully inadequate in light of the immensities of YOU! Julia
